Bowdidge Marine Designs
Performance  Boat Designs with "Flare"

After graduating from Westlawn (Hons - Cum Laude), three years saw me working in the design of office of TOM FEXAS YACHT DESIGNS, (till the GFC and they closed their doors) working alongside Dave Glasco and Nicholas Di Matteo, specializing in the design of very large luxurious motor yachts for companies such as Mikelson yachts, Kadey Krogen, Morgan Yachts, Choey Lee and more, designs with a typical length 55 ft (17 metres) to 200 ft (60m).
Unfortunately, with Tom having passed away and then with the world wide recession, the big boat market collapsed and new design quickly contracts dried up. After 30 years of being in business, Tom Fexas Yacht Designs era wound up the last of its contracts and sadly closed its doors forever.

This was a fabulous learning curve that I was fortunate enough to have been through.

Aluminium Boats Australia

Bowdidge Marine Designs was approached to design a commercial 5.5metre (18ft) aluminium Punt for the councils & park rangers (particulary the gulf region) to service the coastal national parks in Northern Australia. The requirements for the design was it had to be built from aluminium, CNC cut files, powered by a 60Hp Honda outboard, to have the capacity to carry 5 workers with their required gear for their jobs (chainsaws etc ) or, for 2 people/  a quad bike and required gear, which is used to carry out pesticide jobs within the National parks.

Naturally, since these waters are where the big salt water crocs also reside, freeboard also had to be taken into consideration for SAFETY.
